Nick
Marrett – Founder & CEO
The worst thing you could say
about Nick’s career is it sounds like
a clichéd TV commercial. He didn’t
exactly start out in dispatch, but he wasn’t
much higher. And in less than ten years rose
to become CEO of Batey, the most recognized
and awarded independent advertising agency in
Asia-Pacific.
During this time, Nick honed
his marketing skills on some of the world's
greatest brands. He played a key role in developing
global and regional strategies for brands such
as Singapore Airlines, Singapore Tourist Board,
Mercedes-Benz, StarHub, OCBC, and many others.
Nick has worked in both North
and South Asia, has extensive experience of
markets across the region, and has been involved
in many worldwide and pan-regional marketing
projects in sectors as diverse as telecommunications,
finance and banking, insurance, automotive,
hotels, tourism and airlines.
But anyone who knows Nick will
tell you that his entrepreneurial instincts
are never far from the surface, and that what
excites him most is not the power at the top,
but the power of ideas and their potential to
transform our lives.
Determined to forge his own brand
and create something unique in the market place,
Nick founded Octtane in January 2004. His vision
for Octtane is to be a company that lives and
breathes ideas and then transforms those ideas
into world-beating commercial ventures.
As anyone who knows him personally
will confirm Nick is incredibly affable, approachable
and down to earth. He likes a laugh and possesses
a legendary unflappability. As one colleague
once joked. ‘One of the very few people
you will meet who would betray no panic upon
being informed that his pants were on fire.
He'd just make a note of it.’
