James
Slade – Shareholder and Director
James began his career as a Stockbroker
and Investment Banker in London in the nineteen
eighties. After a spell with the established
firms of Kitcat & Aitken and Panmure Gordon
he moved into SE Asia equity broking with Crosby
Securities. Exposed to the exciting potential
of S.E. Asia and keen to seek new opportunities
James relocated to Hong Kong in 1988 where he
quickly became one of the rising stars at Barings.
In 1995 he set up FOCUST Capital,
a private equity business investing in Asian
companies. It was during this period that he
joined the controlling board of the international
mining company Aquarius Platinum as one of its
founding members.
In 1999 James was appointed as country head
Nomura Securities in the Philippines and tasked
with establishing the local office.
Today, James is a shareholder
and board director of Octtane Pte Ltd and a
founding investor in the exciting SpacePort
Singapore project. In addition to his more conventional
business interests James, who is a classic aviation
enthusiast, has established an adventure aviation
business in New Zealand called the Old Stick
& Rudder Company. The company own a fleet
of classic WWI and WWII fighter aircraft, which
regularly appear at classic airshows around
the country.
